Will Hasson & Wong Ever Do FUE?Posted by doctorwong on September 27th, 2010
I am very impressed with your world class results to say the least and I was wondering if you’re planning to incorporate fue in your practice because you surely have the technical ability to do so. I’m eager to know the answer because I had 2 previous strip (1500 grafts) and my scalp is too tight for further surgeries as I was told by transmed clinic Turkey with which I had the last strip surgery. I wish you will begin FUE soon. Best regards. — A.S.
Thank you for the kind words regarding our results. We have considered incorporating FUE into our practice but have been reluctant do to the less than ideal results we typically see from FUE. If we feel the FUE technology has progressed to the point where we can produce the same impressive results we are able to produce from strip, we will take a good look at it.
In your case, if you still have enough donor hair, a strip surgery may be your best option. While you stated your scalp is tight, exercises can be performed to loosen the scalp in order to get an adequate yield. Exercises can make a difference 6-8 weeks before surgery, but the longer they are performed before surgery, the greater the potential for increased scalp laxity. Or course, the greater the laxity, the wider the strip and thus the more follicular units that can be harvested. View the Scalp Laxity Exercises video on the hassonandwong.com website.
If you would like to send us photos via our hair transplant consultation form for evaluation, we can determine if you have the donor hair for another surgery and if the exercises would work well for you. If you do send photos, make sure you mention that you were told your scalp was tight and you we wondering whether a strip surgery is an option at this stage. Also, extra photos of the scar and donor area that clearly show the region would be helpful.
